Letter to 25th DistrictDear Columbian, This campaign is about empowering people and supporting just solutions. Over the past couple of months, we have sought to advocate for Missouri's most pressing needs and neediest. This is the kind of leadership we believe is needed in Jefferson City, and Bob Pund is the only candidate running in the 25th District capable of providing it. Bob Pund's experience as a legislative advocate for a disabilities organization has allowed him to familiarize himself with the legislature and develop a network on both the left and right sides of the aisle. He also personally understands the consequences of bad policy, such as the 2005 Medicaid Cuts (a program he relies upon). This experience is invaluable because the 25th District and Missouri need an outspoken and seasoned advocate to hit the ground running after the November election. This need is apparent when you look around and see the growing energy, economic, educational and health care crises. Too many Missourians are fretting over how to pay for food, electricity, gasoline and medical bills. 50% of bankruptcies in America somehow involve medical care, yet this devastating situation may be outpaced by foreclosures and the price of filling up at the pump. This is where Missouri needs solutions. As an advocate, this is why Bob Pund believes in Just Solutions. He is tired of people only talking about problems and is ready for solutions. These, however, should consider human costs in addition to financial. He supports reinstating Medicaid for those who need it and opening up the state health care policy to private citizens. These two solutions will reduce the number of uninsured in Missouri, bring in over $1 billion in Federal funding, and reduce the cost of health care for everyone. Bob supports widely expanding renewable energy because it will create 23,000 jobs, save the state more than $2.4 billion annually, and convert Missouri into an energy producer, as opposed to consumer. Bob also supports expanding the market in Missouri for alternative forms of transportation to ease people's pain at the gasoline pump. In education, Bob supports providing universal preschool education, competitive teacher's pay, and affordable college tuition. Research shows that every dollar invested in Pre-K education yields seven dollars in savings for the state down the line, reduces drop out and incarceration rates, and increases the likelihood that a child goes to College. This is an investment. Bob supports raising teachers' salaries, not legislators. Also, Mizzou is the most expensive public university in the Big-12. Let's cut students a break and help them get over their debt and into quality jobs here in Missouri. As a legislator, Bob Pund would support Just Solutions for Missouri and advocate for all, especially those currently without a voice. Sincerely, |
